Cape May NJ is a nice place for a vacation. We got a chance to visit on a recent trip.

Some of us used to joke about Rob's plan to take the kids to Cape May rather than Disneyworld. It was probably fine. Quitting paid emploment at 40 has allowed him more time with them. I am still doubtful that his wife would really apprciate a carefully selected used book as much as somethng more conventional.

I'm not sure that a narcissistic, passive-aggressive, mentally ill father having more time to spend with his children was/is necessarily a good thing for them.

If you exclude investment advice I am sure he had a lot to offer them

Now, here I have to disagree with you. Even if he doesn't talk about finances with them, having a nasty narcissistic father who is such a bitter, frustrated failure can't be good. The boys and their acquaintances at school are certainly old enough to discover the whole stinking mess of their father's web life. Miserable.

With respect to the boys, I worry about the work ethic (or lack thereof) they have had as an example. The boys were very young when Rob decided to stop working, so for much of their lives, they have observed their father play the role as an internet troll, instead of that as a provider. How will that influence them when it comes time to get a job? Also, will they be able to go to college? Further, Rob has made comments about the boys potentially taking over "the family business".

We can only hope that other family members are a stronger influence.

I guess Rob woulnd't be the best role model. I think he works hard at his calling but I don't think it pays off financially or with the respect of the community.

A psychologist who used to write a column for the LV Review-Journal said narcissists were the most difficult of all patients for him to treat. He said they were quick to focus their highly developed passive-aggressive weaponry upon their therapists. I'm sure Rob Bennett uses the same passive-aggressive behavior he's displayed at every discussion board and blog he's ever posted at to maintain rigid control over his wife and children. I fear his family is enduring a miserable existence at his hands.
