"That those views may be right or wrong just does not matter. They get their say just like everyone else does. This simple point is being missed. I've made that mistake in the past. It won't happen again." This is the whole thing reduced to its essence. This is by far the most important po...

"if hocus keeps his promise (which regrettably I assume is highly unlikely) and stays on his own board... " What I said is that I plan to post primarily on the SWR board. That is not "my own board." It is a community board moderated by me. It is OK by me if we move this discussio...

"I had several of my posts pulled, one after referring to hocus' logorrheic ramblings as 'idiocy'. " I will start by saying that Wanderer is my second favorite poster in the history of FIRE/Passion Saving/Retire Early boards. (JWR1945 is first.) Wanderer is a Giant of our little movement. ...

"Good idea in theory but in practice it only works if everyone ignores him"

Correct.

Which is why it has been suggested many times during the course of the past 25 months that everyone ignore him.

Never works.

It's a puzzle, is it not?

"Even if the defections from this board are limited to you and FMO (highly unlikely - there will be more) it will be a huge loss for NFB." This is so. My understanding of things is that we are in universal agreement on this question. That's something to start with and try to build on, is i...

Ataloss: "So if anyone was interested in debating hocus, it would be entirely on his terms." Does anyone want to take a guess as to how many posts I deleted in my earlier term as Moderator of the SWR board? I'll give you a clue. You all know about how one is the lonliest number and two is...

Ataloss: " I plan to read posts here and post from time to time. " I am sincerely heartened to read that part. I made reference to a song in an album by the quiet Beatle in that same Early Retirement Forum thread that you cited above--"That's the Way God Planned It." Well, the wa...

Ataloss: bob smith has hit the nail on the head

You got me dead to rights on that one, ataloss.

I'm all true. I'm wacky!

Just remember--

Wacky is good!

It's good to hear your voice up close again, raddr. I believe that the most important issue before the FIRE/Passion Saving/Retire Early community at this time is the issue of the realities of SWRs. Thus, I expect to be posting primarily at the SWR board and only on rare occasions (such as this one!)...

Normalization of SWR Discussions

I have been hinting in various ways for a long time that I believed that where the various FIRE/Passion Saving/Retire Early communities were eventually headed was to normalization of SWR discussions. I have a tendency to allow my enthusiasm for learning about the subject matter of these boards to sp...
