For the life of me, I don't know what "old crap" I put in the first post. I was trying to be very careful and non-committal. You said that the reason why there is so little on-topic debate at the Motley Fool board is that there is nothing on-topic to talk about, Arrete. That completely di...

My advice would be to ignore those you choose to, fight it out with those you want to, and the rest of us will get along fine. How's that sound? We'll all have to struggle along the best we can, ES. I would like to see those who are willing to devote enormous energies to disruption of threads that ...

None of that (whatever it was) happened here at the NFBs, so I don't see any constructive reason to rehash it unless and until a problem arises here. You are new here, Beachbumz. The reality is that the intercst matter is of deadly relevance to this board. This board was formed by people trying to ...

I'll second that one!!!! What you are seconding here is a suggestion by ES that we not continually bring up "old crap." It's a constructive suggestion and one that could do a lot to help us if we could form a consensus to make it a reality across the board. There are a number of posters w...

Arrete put up a nice introductory post and you take the opportunity to bring up all this old crap. Parts of the Introductory Post were nice and parts were not nice at all. The part that I responded to was ugly indeed. The hundreds of posters who have been smeared at the Motley Fool board are not he...

Got anymore smear left on that brush, hocus? I'm sure you do. It is an insult to the 100-plus fine posters who built the Motley Fool board for you to state that the reason why there is so little on-topic posting at that board is that there is nothing more to say about the subject of early retiremen...

It has gotten more social over the years, but that's because you can't keep saying the same stuff all the time without boring the pants off everyone. During his posting career at the Motley Fool board, Wanderer was generally recognized as one of the most effective and most popular posters at that b...

Read that little snippet musicman posted and tell me if you still feel that way. I still feel the same way, ES. Raddr is not angel. But if intercst were removed from the various FIRE/Retire Early/Passion Saving boards, do you think we would be having a problem with raddr? I sure don't. Raddr is a g...

I've tried to get the "ataloss" I used to know back here and let the water flow under the bridge. For whatever reason I see that's not possible That was a Grand Slam, ES. I don't use the words "Grand Slam" lightly. That one landed on the roof of the factory six blocks away. I lo...

All that's left is a vindictive liar who has nothing better to do than attack folks from his little message board I fully understand the sense of betrayal that ES feels towards raddr. Still, I think that these words are not entirely fair. I think it is important that we get this exactly right and b...

I would err on the side of common courtesy if push came to shove though. What you say here makes sense to me, ES. Still, I think that common courtesy is a two-way street. Arrete is dissing our community in a big way with her "demand" that her name be removed from my web site, and I have t...

I don't think I'll ever be a legend, but being a cadet surrounded by all this brass is starting to get to me.

I don't know how much this counts for, but I already think of you as an Information Seeker, Beachbumz. That outranks even Board General in my book!

you are comparing apples and sledge hammers on this one. My approach to dealing with both situations would be in essence the same. I think you have to apply a balancing test. On one side, you have a responsibility to your readers to provide the best information at your web site as you possibly can....

In that last post, I meant to say that I would like to cut back on both the number of my posts on the SWR matter and on the length of those posts.

and remember, try to be more concise I would very much like to cut back on both the number of posts that I put up re the SWR matter and the number of those posts. We are generally on the same page on this one, Beachbumz. I was thinking over your post from yesterday when I was at Mass this morning (...

I did just now post a little blurb about my past work experience that made me realize I didn't want any part of it.

I think that was a highly constructive thing for you to do, Beachbumz. I greatly appreciate it.

I didn't find ES's post in support of Arrete to be disruptive. So I did not consider deleting it. It is my understanding of things that the moderator of an NFB board has the power to delete any post he wishes to delete. I am the moderator of this board. JWR1945 is not moderator of this board. It is ...

I'll ask you the same question that I asked ES, Karma. My second book is going to be about investing for early retirement. I will be including a discussion of the REHP study, and I will be explaining why the methodology used in the study is analytically invalid for purposes of determining SWRs. If i...

The ones who feel that the must defend intercst do not bother me. The primary theme of this thread is "What Makes hocus Tick?" My differences with you re this issue probably tell the story in more dramatic colors than anything else. I couldn't possibly disagree with you more than I disagr...
